Switching from Samsung Banner CMS to Play Digital Signage: A Complete Guide
Blogpost was published on May 28, 2026
If you’re using Samsung Banner CMS for your LED signs, you’ve likely heard the news: Samsung is shutting down the service. Many users are now looking for a stable, affordable, and future-proof alternative.
Play Digital Signage is an excellent replacement — especially for LED video walls and large-format displays. It’s reliable, cost-effective, works great with Windows media players, and includes powerful features like the new AI Image plugin for fast content creation.
Here’s everything you need to know about the switch and how to do it smoothly.
Why Samsung Banner Users Are Switching
Samsung Banner was designed specifically for LED signage with simple scheduling and content management. However, with its upcoming end-of-life, users face:
- No more updates or support
- Risk of the software stopping working
- Limited features compared to modern cloud platforms
- Higher long-term costs if forced to upgrade hardware
Play Digital Signage solves these issues with true cloud management, strong offline playback, flexible hardware support, and modern tools like AI-generated images.
Let us do it
When we do it for you, we charge you $499. The price includes setting up the media player, disabling Samsung Banner, installing the Play app, and making sure it is the preferred APP on the media player, setting up your playlist, group, and ONE year of subscription.
Step-by-step Migration guide for those who prefer Play's team to do all the hard work.
This is the part you have to do.Create a free account at playsignage.com
Go to Billing > Billing Details and fill in your company name, address, etc.
Upload all your existing content to the Library
Go to the Library and upload all your files (These are the files that you wanna use in your content). If you don't have any files, you can build your content from scratch in our editor (Working with our editor)
Reach out using our Live Chat (No AI, no prompts, just humans) and let us know you're switching from Samsung Banner to Play. When you reach out, you'll have to provide the TeamViewer information to the sign (If you don't have this information, please reach out to Samsung and ask for it)
Do it yourself
When you do it yourself, there is no getting-started charge, and since we offer the first screen free (You have to leave a review within 30 days), you don't pay a subscription.
