Counter
Counter is for counting down days to your product launch, counting days since your last work accident, or counting down to the next slide loads.
A countdown timer is a versatile tool for your digital signage. Use it to generate excitement for upcoming events, product launches, or even birthdays. You can also configure it to count up from a past date, like showcasing a sales record. Easily add and customize a countdown timer in Play Digital Signage.
Add a countdown to your slide
- Go to Playlists
- Find your playlist and click Edit
- Find the slide where you'd like to add a countdown
- Click Plugins
- Search for or find Counter and click it
- In mode, choose Countdown to date, Countdown Seconds, or Countdown to next slide
- Go through the settings, and when you're done, make sure you click Publish
Add Countdown to date to your slide
- Go to Playlists
- Find your playlist and click Edit
- Find the slide where you'd like to add a countdown
- Click Plugins
- Search for or find Counter and click it
- In mode, choose Countdown to date
- In Date, set the date you'd like to count down to
- In Time, set the time if day
- In Format, pick the format that fits your need
Add Countdown seconds to your slide
- Go to Playlists
- Find your playlist and click Edit
- Find the slide where you'd like to add a countdown
- Click Plugins
- Search for or find Counter and click it
- In mode, choose Countdown Seconds
- In Countdown Start, set the seconds
- In Format, pick the format that fits your need
Add Countdown to next slide to your slide
- Go to Playlists
- Find your playlist and click Edit
- Find the slide where you'd like to add a countdown
- Click Plugins
- Search for or find Counter and click it
- In Mode, choose Countdown to next slide
- In Format, pick the format that fits your need
The countdown to next slide will always match the duration of your slide. Tip! If you are adding this to multiple slides, you can use copy/paste, so that you don't have to set it up at every slide.
Add Countdown to date to your slide
- Go to Playlists
- Find your playlist and click Edit
- Find the slide where you'd like to add a countdown
- Click Plugins
- Search for or find Counter and click it
- In mode, choose Countdown to date
- In Date, set the date you'd like to count up to
- In Time, set the time if day
- In Format, pick the format that fits your need

- Count down – The plugin counts down to a specific date/time in the future.
- Count up – The plugin counts days/hours/minutes/seconds since a specific date/time in the past.
- Count down seconds – Starts counting down from a specified value every second since the slide is shown (can be used to indicate when the next slide will be shown).
- Count up every second – Starts counting up seconds from the moment the slide is shown.
- Date – Target date.
- Time – Target time.
- Format – Several display formats to choose from, depending on what granularity is appropriate for your counter.
- Vertical – The plugin renders in a vertical configuration.
- Font - Change the font of the text
- Alignment - Align text to the left, center, or right
- Font Size - Change the font size
- Shadow - Add a shadow to the text
- Stroke - Change the stroke thickness of the text
- Layer - Move the counter up and down the layers
What happens when it reaches 0?
The counter will never go negative. In the case of count-down, once it reaches 0, it will remain at 0. If you’re using count-up mode and the date is in the future, the plugin will show 0 until the date is elapsed.
Can I remove a slide when it reaches 0?
Yes, this would simply require you to set up a slide conditional rule, read more.
